Campus Phone System

The campus phone system allows for multiple methods of accessing your phone and voicemail.

Webex

Webex allows users to access their phone and voicemail on their computers and mobile devices.

On your college-issued computer, you can install the Webex app via the Company Portal application in Windows or the PC Self Service application on a Mac.

On your iOS or Android device, you can download the free Webex app from the App Store or Google Play store respectively. Note: there are multiple Webex apps with similar icons. You should only download the one simply titled “Webex.”

The mobile Webex app allows you to make and take calls from your campus extension. When you make calls through the Webex app, the caller ID on the recipient’s phone looks like it would if you called from your campus desk phone.

Additional documentation on using Webex can be found at the link below. Please be aware that we are only licensed for calling, so you will not have access to or see the messaging or meeting features. For messaging (chat) or meeting, you should use Microsoft Teams.

Single Number Reach

Single Number Reach (SNR) allows your campus desk phone to ring on your cell phone. You can also configure a schedule for when your campus extension rings on your cell phone.

When someone calls your campus extension, you will get the call on your cell phone, but you will not see the same caller ID information.

When you call someone’s cell phone from your cell phone, their caller ID will display your cell phone number, not your campus phone number.

If you wish to have SNR setup for your extension, you must fill out the request form linked below.

Campus Voicemail

Your campus voicemail is accessible via your email (your direct extension only), Jabber (your direct extension only), or any phone on- or off-campus. You can find instructions for accessing your email below.

From your Providence College email account:

The voicemail system is linked to the College’s email system. You should receive an email for every voicemail you receive to your direct extension. This is not setup for general departmental extensions or email accounts.

If you delete the voice message from your email, it will delete from your voicemail box on your phone and vice versa. If you mark the email as read but keep the email, it will keep the voice message in your voicemail box, but it will not display as new.

You can save voice messages by saving the audio file attachment from your email to your computer. You can also forward voice messages by simply forwarding the email to another user.

Simply click or tap on the Voicemail button in Webex, and you will see all your voice messages.
