Junk/Spam Email Settings

Your Providence College email account has built-in spam and junk email filters. Emails that are determined by the filter to be spam or a phishing scam are automatically quarantined.

Blocked and Safe Senders Lists

The Blocked Senders and Safe Senders lists allow users to specify email addresses or domains that should always be quarantined or always be allowed for receipt. These lists are managed through the webmail system.

  1. Sign into your account at outlook.office.com.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Choose “View all Outlook settings” at the bottom.
  4. Click on “Junk email.”
  5. You will see both the Blocked Senders and Safe Senders lists here.
  6. After editing the lists, be sure to click Save at the bottom.

Quarantined Emails

Users receive a daily digest of emails quarantined during the previous 24 hours. They can release a quarantined message directly from that list or permanently block a sender.

Users can also access their quarantine at any time by visiting the link below. This is helpful if you are expecting an urgent email that you have not seen delivered to your inbox.
